Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, 2009โ€“2025

You knew the secret songs. Everyone knew the secret songs.

It was the first thing you saw and the first thing you heard. A coaster that made you pick a soundtrack from a touchscreen while strangers watched, then broadcast your choice to the queue below โ€” a ride whose defining feature was mild public embarrassment, delivered at 65 miles an hour. The non-inverting loop was genuinely clever engineering. The song menu is what people actually talk about.

The plot is not sitting empty: Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift is going up on it, due next year. Which means the ride that replaced Rockit will, in a roundabout way, also outlive the Fast & Furious attraction closing across the park next month. Universal Studios Florida's front gate has been a construction site for most of a decade, and it is about to be one again.
